How it works
What the numbers mean.
Squares
One square = 100 sq ft of roof surface. A typical Logan County ranch is 15–25 squares; a two-story with a garage is 25–40.
Pitch
Steeper roofs have more surface than their footprint — a 6/12 pitch adds about 12%, a 12/12 adds 41%. Steep roofs also take more setup to work safely.
Complexity
Every gable, valley, dormer, and chimney adds cuts, flashing, and waste. Simple roofs run ~10% waste; cut-up roofs run 15–20%.
